April Special Events
If you’re of Polish descent, or pretend to be Polish for a day, you will enjoy the fun and festivity of Dyngus Day on the Monday after Easter. It falls on April 1st this year. Then, later in the month, we celebrate Earth Day (U.S.) With global warming, the earth needs all the help it can get.
A Rare Solar Eclipse
Is anyone in America not aware that a rare total solar eclipse will occur on April 8th? We’re sure you’re all overly informed, especially in areas where a total eclipse will be visible. If the weather cooperates, it will truly be a stellar and captivating roughly four-minute event you will not want to miss. Poeple will come from all over just to witness it. People in the path of the total eclipse are being bombarded with information and news of the upcoming event. And, they are preparing for the huge influx of visitors and all the impacts and gridlock that comes with it.
The overall length of the eclipse is 9,000 miles. This once-in-a-lifetime event will cut a path beginning in the Pacific Ocean before moving across Mexico. It will then be seen by tens of millions of Americans as it cuts across the United States from Texas to New England before traveling through southeastern Canada and out into the Atlantic Ocean. Millions will throng to the area of totality to watch the event in a hopefully cloudless sky. Millions more will see a partial eclipse. Grab your solar glasses to watch as darkness spreads across the land.
