It’s your right and duty as an American citizen.  The election is held on the first Tuesday of the month after the first Monday of the month. However, nowadays early voting begins several days before the general election. Most states conduct early voting.

The General election is held every four years. Each year, different federal, state, and local elections are held. Once every four years, we get the opportunity to elect a new president. Every six years, we elect our U.S. senators. We elect U.S. congressmen every two years.

Eat a Cranberry Day is today, a November 23 holiday. Native to North America, cranberries are good for you. They are nutritious and healthy. And, there are a whole lot of recipes that use cranberries, from cranberry sauce to muffins, cakes, pies, and more. With countless recipes, it’s not a question of whether you will consume cranberries today. Rather, it’s a question of how many.

Native to North America, cranberries are grown in bogs. They are primarily grown in New England and four other states. When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, they found Native Americans harvesting them, and eating them.  Native Americans also used them as dyes for clothing, and medicinal purposes.

National Deviled Eggs Day is today, a November 2 holiday. Certainly, it is a devil of a day. Like any other food holiday, this day is a culinary delight. No one knows where it got its devilish name. 

The whole purpose of this day is to make and eat Deviled Eggs. They are hors d’oeuvres typically served at parties and get-togethers. However, you can make them as an appetizer or just as a snack. Cyber Monday in the U.S. is always held on the Monday after Thanksgiving. What began as a small marketing promotion quickly grew into a many-billion-dollar event. Black Friday is geared more toward brick-and-mortar retailers. Cyber Monday originally began as an aid to smaller businesses, through increased sales on their online Etail stores. Consumers, always looking for a bargain, eagerly turned to online holiday shopping deals. As Cyber Monday grew, retail giants and Amazon.com gained an increasingly larger share of online holiday sales. Since its creation in 2004, Cyber Monday has experienced an annual double-digit increase in sales. Cyber Monday is now an international term. It has grown into an international event. 

Most countries now have Cyber Monday embedded on their November calendars, despite not celebrating our Thanksgiving Day. For example, Thanksgiving Day in Canada is in October. But, they celebrate Cyber Monday on the day after U.S. Thanksgiving, just like us. Some other countries hold it around this period, but on a different Monday.

The bottom line is marketers want your holiday shopping dollars. 

Today is a culinary treat. It is National French Dip Day, a November 12 holiday. Certainly, today is going to be a delicious day. This flavorful and juicy sandwich is enjoyed by dipping the sandwich into au jus for a few seconds until the bread is wet and mushy. This sandwich is a little bit messy, perhaps. But, oh what a great treat. The bread literally melts in your mouth.

As for the meat, it’s your choice!

Chicken Soup for the Soul Day is today. It’s a celebration about you. This November 12 holiday is a warm, feel-good about yourself day, even if the weather is cold, rainy, or snowy.

According to the creators of the book series of the same name, this day is “…. a celebration of who you are, where you’ve been, where you’re going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!”

We suggest you take this day as a celebration of the value and healing of chicken soup, especially mom’s chicken soup. Chicken soup has long been seen as remedial for colds, flu, and just about anything that ails you. You can’t find that healing in a can. You can only find it in mom’s homemade chicken soup.

Cook Something Bold Day is today, a November 8 holiday.

According to its creator, Wellcat.com, Cook Something Bold Day is designed to encourage us to cook something bold and daring, that will fill up the house with warm, “homey” odors. It is celebrated in November, as houses are closed up for the winter, and capture the cooking smells.

This is not a day to prepare something simple and easy to make. Rather, it is a day to be daring. Also, in keeping with the concept for this day you get bonus points for cooking something that fills the house with pleasant aromas.
