National Cream Filled Donut Day is a sugary, sweet day. Dontcha just love special days like today!? Sure, you were watching your weight. Then, along comes a special day that is just packed with calories and carbs. And, that special day encourages you to eat one of your favorite breakfast treats…. cream-filled donuts. So, on this September 14 holiday, ignore the guilt trip for just one day and chow down.

There is no shortage of food-related “special days”. We are certainly glad that someone chose to create a day just for cream-filled donuts. It truly is a special treat.

The most popular cream filled donuts are chocolate cream and vanilla cream.  This author’s favorite is banana cream. But, they are hard to find. Whatever flavor is your favorite, just make sure the day does not go by, without having one or more cream filled donuts. 

 Among other things, Confucius (551 – 479 B.C.was an early Chinese philosopher and politician. To this day, Confucius is known as one of the world’s greatest philosophers. Therefore, is it only fitting that today Confucius Day, was created to honor him and what he brought to mankind. We celebrate this September 29 holiday annually. 

Born in China on October 18, 551 B.C., he was one of the earliest, and perhaps the first great philosopher. He was also a teacher, a scholar, and a politician. He gave the world both many teachings and now 499 famous sayings.

Celebrate Confucius Day by learning more about this ancient philosopher, and reading some of his teachings and sayings.

Note: Over the years, many comical sayings have been created and referenced as sayings of Confucius, usually titled “Confucius Says”. As a rule of thumb, if the saying is humorous, chances are it is not a true saying by this great scholar. 

National Comic Book Day is a super cool day. We celebrate this September 25 holiday annually. Share a book with a friend today. We don’t know of anyone who doesn’t like a good comic book. As a matter of fact, many of us have a collection. Collecting never goes out of style. And, the books in our collection only gain in value over the years.

Comic books are great reading. They either tell an ongoing story, provide humor, or offer intrigue and suspense. In all the storylines, good eventually prevails over evil. So, these books always make us feel good.

Did you Know? (of course, you did!):  Comic books have great value as a collector’s item. Don’t ever throw away those old comic books. Down the road, the series you are collecting today may be worth its weight in gold!

Collect Rocks Day is a day to enjoy and add to your rock collection. Ahh, to be a kid again, and have a rock collection. Well, we have good news for you. No one ever said you had to give up your rock collection when you became an adult. We hope you always keep and cherish your invaluable rock collection. Undoubtedly, young girls who collect rocks will trade in their rock collection as they get older. The kind of rocks a woman seeks are called “gems”. And, where do the ladies often get those gems? Why from the men, of course!

Kids collect rocks because it is a fun thing to do. They even trade rocks among other young rock collectors. There are no books on what rocks to collect, or how much each rock is valued at. Rather, rocks are selected for a collection based upon a wide range of attributes. A lot of it is an individual appeal. The rock could be big or small, a particular color or range of colors. smooth or rough or display a unique characteristic. Consequently, when it comes to rock collecting, beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder (or rock holder in this case).

Citizenship Day celebrates being a citizen of the United States of America, the greatest country the world has ever seen. Our great country (and its people ….you!) is something every American should be proud of. America is filled with outstanding citizens, many of whom have played a direct or indirect role in making this country and what it stands for, a beacon of hope, promise, and success!

This special day is for all citizens, both native-born, and those who chose to become Americans. It is a day to be proud to be an American. It is a day to appreciate being a citizen of this country and the rights and freedoms it brings. We suggest American citizens never take for granted the rights, freedoms, and privileges afforded us, as citizens of the United States of America. 

We suggest today, and every day, you express your citizenship in some way. It’s the sum of all of the actions and deeds by famous and “ordinary” citizens, that makes this country so great.

National Chocolate Milkshake Day is an opportunity for chocoholics to savor and enjoy a thick and frothy shake. In mid-September, the weather may have cooled off. But, our appetite for chocolate, specifically chocolate shakes, hasn’t cooled off one iota. Chocolate is the most popular milkshake flavor. For those of you who prefer other flavors, only a chocolate milkshake will do today. So, on this September 12 holiday, enjoy a chocolate milkshake…or two.
