Cheese Pizza Day is a day to chow down with a couple of slices of one of America’s favorite meals. This September 5 holiday is celebrated annually.  Pizza is a favorite of young and old. Originating from Italian cuisine, it’s a staple in the American diet. For many American families “Pizza night” is a Friday or Saturday routine. It’s also popular at parties. You can have a cheese pizza pie any way you want. There’s the thin or thick crust. Extra cheese is the “norm” for many cheese pizza lovers.  

To celebrate Cheese Pizza Day, just order a cheese pizza. Or, make a homemade pizza. If you decide you just have to add other toppings, it’s okay. We won’t tell.

National Cheeseburger Day is today. Top off America’s favorite sandwich, with a piece of cheese. The food industry makes it a point to celebrate a wide variety of foods. We believe burgers certainly merit a special day. The hamburger has its day of glory in May. So, this September 18 holiday is all about the cheeseburger, topped with any and everything you want on it. 

Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day by firing up the grill, and cooking cheeseburgers. You can do so for lunch or dinner…. or both! Any kind of cheese will do. Try a different cheese, if you’re adventuresome. For the carb-conscious, eat your burgers without the buns.

Watch for……. luncheon and dinner specials today at your local restaurants. Tops on the specials board certainly should be cheeseburgers!

Get out the Checkerboard. Today is Checkers Day. So, do you want the red checkers? Or, the black ones? It may surprise you to know that it is also Dogs in Politics Day. These two days are one and the same. Read on, and we will explain the connection.

This day is all about a beloved dog named Checkers who stole the political spotlight for a short period of time. Most U.S. presidents had dogs while they served in office. However, only Andrew Johnson, James K. Polk, and Donald Trump did not have a presidential dog.

National Butterscotch Pudding Day gives us good reason to enjoy a tasty dessert. Okay, so Butterscotch may not be as popular as vanilla or chocolate. But, it sure is good. if you’ve never had it, try it today and see for yourself. For those of us who like it, just the thought of butterscotch pudding has already got our mouths watering in eager anticipation. Now let’s dispel a rumor. Many people think you only consume pudding when you don’t feel well. Wrong! Pudding is enjoyable any time of the year and regardless of your health.

Like all food-related special days, it’s easy to participate and enjoy. In this case, just eat some Butterscotch pudding.

C’mon ladies, let’s break the glass ceiling. American Business Women’s Day recognizes the value and contributions of women in the business world. The roots of this September 22 holiday go back to the late 1940s. While men were off fighting World War II, women filled the void in the workforce. Overall, they performed well in a previously man’s workforce. The returning soldiers found the women eager to have their men return. But, many working women were not anxious to return to traditional roles in the home. Since this time, women’s roles and contributions in the workforce have grown and evolved.

Currently, women are found in virtually all career fields, from top corporate officers to the Vice President of the United States. However, compensation and promotion still lag behind men in many areas. So, let’s put an end to this discrepancy.

Did you notice that people seem to be overly engrossed with their cell phones and their busy lives nowadays? We seem to have forgotten our manners. Good social behaviors, politeness, and respect are lacking everywhere you look. Nowadays, many people skip the simple things like saying please and thank you. Having good manners and being polite, have taken a back seat at work, at home,e and on the Internet. Yes sir, Bring Your Manners to Work Day is today and has come along at just the right time. All industries and professions celebrate this holiday. It definitely applies to you and everyone in the workplace without exception.

 Bring Your Manners to Work Day exists to remind us of how important good manners are at work. This applies to both employees and the “boss”. Here are a couple of examples: You want a day off and you say to your supervisor “I want to take Tuesday off.” You’ll get a much better reception if you say “May I please take Tuesday off?”  How many times have you heard your boss say something like “Get me last week’s sales report.” You’ll likely do it quicker, and your moral will be better if the boss says “Would you please get me last week’s sales report?” Saying please and thank you is a basic example of good manners and should be used everywhere. Using good manners at work reaps significant results. It helps to build good working relationships, improves morale, lowers employee turnover, and increases productivity.

National Apple Dumpling Day is today. On this September 17 holiday, become a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang. We are celebrating a tasty fall treat. It’s easy to make, and indeed even easier to buy. Apple lovers can’t resist this pastry, filled with sweet, delicious apples.

Happy National Apple Dumpling Day!

Today is American Legion Day. The American Legion was granted its federal charter by Congress on this day in 1919. It was established to support and assist veterans returning from World War I. Since then, it has grown and supported veterans of all wars, and veterans of peacetime as well. They provide a social community and mutual aid to all members.

There are currently over 1.6 million member veterans at more than 12,000 posts worldwide. For the past few decades, the number of members are on a serious decline. Along with fewer members, the number of American Legion Posts is also on the decline. Despite the decline, there is no reduction in the services they provide to veterans. This is largely driven by fewer Americans serving in the military. Additionally, many of today’s veterans are choosing not to join the legion.
