Today's Quote

“Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” – – Lyndon B. Johnson

History and Origin of International Day of Awesomeness

Kevin Lawver, a web application developer, and a bunch of his co-workers conceived this special day. Fred Maneiro, an intern at Lawver’s company suggested that there should be a celebration for awesomeness. Lawver picked up on the idea, created the details around it, coined the day as National Day of Awesomeness, and promoted it on Twitter. The day quickly became global, and the name was appropriately changed to International Day of Awesomeness. Other co-workers, most notably Dan Lurie, also contributed to the development of this holiday.

The original slogan for the day “Because everyone needs an excuse to be awesome”, was created by Dan Lurie. Kevin Lawver’s daughter later came up with the slogan “No one’s perfect, but everyone can be awesome.”

About I am in Control Day

When is I am in Control Day? This holiday is always celebrated on March 30

Do you know who’s in charge of things? If not, then I am in Control Day is the perfect time to find out. While this March 30 holiday marks a moment of confusion in the Whitehouse, you can use this holiday to clarify issues of control and leadership that affect you and your life.

On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was wounded in an assassination attempt. The vice president was not in Washington at the time. Lots of confusion prevailed.  Many did not even know the order of succession to lead our great nation. In the White House, then Secretary of State Alexander Haig was taken a little out of context when he said “I am in control here”. Instead of focusing on the entire statement, people and the press focused on these few words.  Political uproar eventually led to his resignation.

Being in control of something is very often about leadership. On that historical day, the roots of I Am in Control Day was born. Alexander Haig’s statement was intended to calm a nation under distress and uncertainty after its leader was injured and unable to control the reins of the country. History sometimes fades with time. Today, Alexander Haig’s statement is all but forgotten.

Meanwhile, this special day continues to exist and evolve. In the case of I am in Control Day, it is good that this holiday thrives and evolves. People now think about this day in a different, more context. They personalize it into a day to get their life under control. In that sense, today is definitely a call to action. So, this holiday is your chance to get things in order and under control. It can become one of your favorite March 30 holidays.

How to Participate in I am in Control Day

Most likely, the best first step is to take a deep breath and relax. Now, assess the situation, and………. get things under control. Once you have accomplished this today, you can work on staying in control every day.  Here are some ways that you can participate and enjoy this holiday:

  • Get your life under control.
  • Show off your leadership skills in group environments.
  • Look for a leadership position in your company.
  • Take a leadership course.
  • Read more about attempted assassination attempts on President Ronald Reagan and other U.S. Presidents.
  • Visit NASA’s Mission Control Center.
  • Of course, when it comes to marriage, we all know that our wives are the ones who are really in charge. So, guys do not rock the boat.

Goddess of Fertility Day is today, a March 18 holiday. It celebrates Venus, Aphrodite, and other gods and goddesses of fertility. In ancient times, most cultures had multiple immortal deities. Each one represented various aspects of life. The ancient Greek goddess Venus was by far the most well-known goddess of fertility. About Girl Scouts Day

When is Girl Scouts Day? This holiday is always celebrated on March 12

Girl Scout Day recognizes and celebrates the Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). This March 12 holiday celebrates the creation of the first Girl Scout group on March 12, 1912. Lady Olave Baden-Powell founded Girl Guides. She is the wife of Lord Baden-Powell (who created the Boy Scouts). She was born on February 22, 1889.

On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low started the first Girl Scout group in Savannah Georgia with 18 girls. They went on to become a national organization and were chartered by the U.S. Congress on March 16, 1950. Today, there are millions of girls involved with Girl Scouts. While membership dwindled over the past few decades, leaders have modernized the program. They no longer focus on teaching the girls good homemaker skills. Their focus now is on offering opportunities to excel and be leaders in the modern world.

Are you a cookie monster? Americans eagerly await the annual Girls Scout cookie drive. It teaches the girls valuable skills and generates income to support girl scouting activities. And, you get to munch on a variety of delicious cookies. Most people buy several boxes.

How to Celebrate Girl Scouts Day

  • If you are a girl scout or a leader, mark this day with a celebration and a cake with candles.
  • If the holiday falls on a weekend, organize and attend a campout.
  • Join the girl scouts as a youth or a leader.

History and Origin of Girl Scouts Day

Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. It appears to have been created around 2018. The date marks the debut of Barbie dolls debut on March 6, 1959.

The ever-popular Barbie doll fully deserves this special day. It is a little surprising that Barbie Day wasn’t created earlier than 2018.

The earliest reference to this special day is called it “Barbie Day.” Only recently, a few websites have begun to call it a “National” day. We found no presidential proclamation or act of Congress making this a true national day.

Definition of “National” Days – and why it is important to distinguish true National days.
