When is National Prime Rib Day? This holiday is always celebrated on April 27
Dontcha just love food holidays? Today is National Prime Rib Day. This April 27 holiday is a real culinary treat. This is definitely my kind of day, the kind of day you can sink your teeth into. National Prime Rib Day gets your mouth watering and starts you drooling. Many of us look to this day on the calendar to enjoy one of America’s favorite roasts.
For just a day, forget about the diet. For just today, don’t fret over the high fat and cholesterol content. And mad cow?………. well isn’t prime rib worth the risk? After all, if you don’t have some prime rib today, you’ll be “madder than a wet……cow!”
There’s only one way to celebrate Prime Rib Day. And, that is with a big, thick, juicy cut of prime rib, cooked perfectly to your liking. Don’t forget the au jus and the fully loaded baked potato.
Go to your local butcher shop and select a prime rib roast.
Invite family and/or friends.
Roast it in the oven.
May we suggest cooking it in a smoker?
Slice it up into thick slabs and dig in.
Ps. Make sure to buy one large enough to have leftovers tomorrow.

Great Poetry Reading Day is today, an April 28 holiday. This day honors some really great verses. We all were introduced to poetry in high school. During those impressionable teenage years, many teens became enamored with poetry, especially the romantic kind.
There’s lots of poetry out there. Some poems are good, and some are not so good. Today is intended to read the world’s greatest poetry. But, you don’t have to limit your readings to famous poets. If you wrote a poem to that special someone, today is the perfect time to read it to her.

When is Plan Your Epitaph Day? This holiday is always celebrated on November 2
Plan Your Epitaph Day is a little bit morbid for my liking. My first thought was who would create this November 2 holiday? And, why? I don’t want to think about my epitaph, let alone ponder what to inscribe on my tombstone.
However………….
When you stop to think about it, maybe it’s best if you consider what legacy you want to inscribe on your tombstone. After all, you never know what a relative or friend may put on your tombstone once you’re gone. Or, worse still, what if they don’t say anything?
While we’re young, we think this is a long way away. However, as the years go by and we gain wisdom, more of us consider getting directly involved with our epitaph, as well as all of the details of our demise. So, think about the inscription you want on your tombstone. Then, let the people who will manage your final arrangements know.
So, if you need a little nudge to plan your epitaph, let today be the day.
How to Celebrate Plan Your Epitaph Day
Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate this gruesome holiday:
Ponder the inscription you want on your tombstone.
Pre-arrange your tombstone and the cemetery.
Or, put it off until another time as it’s too morbid to think about.

History and Origin of Plan Your Epitaph Day
Lance Hardie is the creator of Plan Your Epitaph Day. He is the author of How to Write Your Own Epitaph — and Live Long Enough to Enjoy It.
It was established on November 2 coinciding with the Day of the Dead.
Believe it or not, there is an occasional reference to this being a “National” day. It’s hard to believe that the U.S. Congress or the president would waste time considering a proclamation on this topic. We did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day.
In addition to today’s holiday, here are some things that happened on this day:
George Washington says goodbye to his troops after the end of the Revolutionary War. (1783)
American astronaut Bill Shepherd and Russian cosmonauts Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev are the first crew to reside onboard the International Space Station (ISS). (2000)
Kentucky frontiersman Daniel Boone, was born on this day in 1734.

Today is International Plant Appreciation Day, an April 13 holiday. Plants are our friends, our counterparts. We breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Plants take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. Why, you could say it’s a marriage born in heaven, or at least the garden of Eden.

Flowers for their beauty.
Vegetable plants to feed us. They taste so good and offer a wide range of flavors for our consumption.
Herbs are the spice that makes eating such a pleasure. Many of them offer medicinal uses, too.
Trees give us shelter and shade. They also provide the paper that we write on.
Weeds, well let’s appreciate them too, if only for today.
And, the list goes on and on.

When is National Peach Cobbler Day? This holiday is always celebrated on April 13
You may not have known it when you awoke this morning, but today is National Peach Cobbler Day. How sweet this April 13 holiday is! Peaches are one of America’s favorite fruits. When you put it into a cobbler recipe, you’ve got a real treat. Undoubtedly, people will be asking for seconds.
Peach Cobbler is a deep-dish fruit pie, made with peaches and biscuits (or its equivalent). While it is best to be served hot, it is still delicious when consumed cold, too.
Back in the 1800s, American settlers traveling to the west did not have the ingredients to make a then-popular suet pudding. They used peaches and dough to cobble together this tasty fruit pie. We are sure glad they did!
For the record! The largest Peach Cobbler ever made was baked at the Georgia Peach Festival in 2007. It measured 11′ X 5′ and 8″ deep.

When is New Beer's Eve? This holiday is always celebrated on April 6
Today is New Beer’s Eve, an April 6 holiday. Sit back and enjoy a bottle or two of suds. Or, visit your favorite bar or brewery. The 21st Amendment, repealing the prohibition of beer and alcohol went into effect at 2:01 a.m. on April 7, 1933. On the evening of April 6, 1933, anxious Americans heralded the repeal of this law and were ready to celebrate. On this night many people jumped the gun and quaffed a little suds before the turn of the calendar. To commemorate, this event, fill up your beer stein and bottoms up!
For over a decade (1920-1933), beer and alcohol were banned in the United States. This ban was set in place by the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. The 18th Amendment failed miserably. It was largely ignored. Millions of people turned to making their own bathtub beer and made alcohol in homemade stills. Bootleg beer and alcohol, much of which was smuggled in from Canada, caused the loss of millions of dollars in potential tax revenues.
Do you know what day tomorrow is? It’s National Beer Day. Unlike New Year where people drink on the night before and feel the effects on the first day of the new year, people drink their share of beer on both New Beer’s Eve and National Beer Day.
We hope you thoroughly enjoy New Beers’ Eve. Please do so responsibly. If you drink, don’t drive.
How to Celebrate New Beer's Eve
Do you have any doubts about how to celebrate this frothy holiday!?

“Give a man a beer, waste a day. Teach a man to brew, waste a lifetime.” – – Bill Owen
History and Origin of New Beer's Eve
The 21st Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment. It took effect at 12:01a.m on April 7, 1933. On the evening of April 6th, anxious Americans lined up at breweries and distilleries to purchase legal beer and alcohol at the stroke of midnight. That night, someone coined the term “New Beer’s Eve“, and a new annual holiday was born!

While pretzels were first baked in France, pretzels have been popular in German bakeries for hundreds of years. In the U.S., the first pretzel was baked in 1850 in Lititz, Pa., by Julius Sturgis.
