When is Poultry Day? This holiday is always celebrated on March 19
Poultry Day celebrates chicken, turkey, and other birds we commonly consume. Chicken, turkey, and many other fowl are lower in fats, and cholesterol than other meats. So, eating them is better for your health. They also give you your breakfast eggs.
One way to celebrate Poultry Day is to eat eggs for breakfast, a chicken sandwich for lunch, and barbecue chicken for dinner. Don’t forget to cook up some chicken fingers for the kids.
On November 17, 1989, then-President George H.W. Bush gave a presidential pardon to a turkey. It immediately became an annual tradition. Start your own annual tradition by giving all poultry a one-day reprieve on Poultry Day.

Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. The most likely candidate for Poultry Day creator is the poultry industry. We see no reason for the creator to be chicken about taking credit for this day, or to duck the responsibility to document it.

We found no documentation in congressional records to confirm that this is truly a national day. Nor, did we find a presidential proclamation.

When is Popcorn Lovers Day? This holiday is celebrated on the second Thursday in March
Today is Popcorn Lovers Day, or Popcorn Lovers Night, as most of us enjoy it as a nighttime snack. You can use the terms interchangeably for this exciting holiday. Many of us love popcorn. So, it only makes sense that there should be a special day just for popcorn lovers. Bob Matthews the creator of this holiday from Rochester, NY suggests that on this night you “do what lovers do”. And, that’s eat popcorn!
This is a snack that is good for you when eaten plain. It is not as healthy when it’s loaded with salt and butter. But, all that butter and salt tastes so good. And, you only eat it once a week or so.
This day is intended to enjoy popcorn and share it with others. Bring some to work. Or microwave some and put it in a basket on your desk.
You can traditionally have it with salt and butter. Or, you can add any one of several flavors to it. Some popular flavors are cheddar cheese, parmesan garlic, and even hot pepper! There is no requirement as to what seasoning to use today, as long as you eat plenty of it. Now, that’s not hard to do, is it!?
Today is the perfect day to make a big bowl of popcorn and cozy up to your cutie on the sofa, as you watch television this evening.
How to Celebrate Popcorn Lovers Day
Pull out the popcorn maker and pop a batch.
Have it your way! Add butter, salt, cheese, or any other flavor you desire.
Make it Popcorn Lover’s Night. Eat it while enjoying your favorite television show or streaming a movie.
Bring some to work to share with co-workers.
Go to a movie and buy a large bucket of real movie theater popcorn. It’s the best. Don’t forget the extra butter.
Today's Quote
“Every once in a while someone would mail me a single kernel that didn’t pop. I’d get out a fresh kernel, tape it to a piece of paper and mail it back to them.” – – Orville Redenbacher
History and Origin of Popcorn Lovers Day
This day was created on January 6, 2012, by Bob Matthews of Rochester, NY. It is Bob’s favorite snack. He and his wife Debbie, enjoy it on most Thursdays, all year long. Bob is also an avid gardener. He has grown and dried popcorn kernals for popping, too.
In recent years, some internet websites have begun calling it National Popcorn Lovers Day. Matthews says this is incorrect. He did not call it a “National” day and people shouldn’t change the title in any way.

If the weather is good in your area, go to your local garden center and pick out some beautiful blooming flower plants. If the weather is not yet okay for outdoor planting, keep them in your home or a greenhouse until the proper planting time in your area.
Celebrate today by planting or transplanting any kind of plant. It can be done indoors, or weather permitting, outdoors.
Start trays of your favorite flowers for transplanting outdoors later in the spring.

History and Origin of Plan a Solo Vacation Day
The creator and his or her reasons why they created this day, is a mystery to us. This seems odd. The creator promotes a bold and exciting adventure, yet was not adventuresome enough to document it for the rest of us to better understand and enjoy this special day! I don’t know about you, but that won’t stop me from planning and ultimately taking a vacation all by myself.
We suspect that someone in the travel industry created this day.
We also suspect this day was established on March 1, as it often takes weeks and months, to put vacation plans in place…… scheduling time off from work, booking flights and hotel rooms, etc.

When is National Pi Day? This holiday is always celebrated on March 14
National Pi Day celebrates Pi, a mathematical concept and a number that never ends….at least no one and no computer has found the end yet. Often, we round it off to 3.14. If you are a mathematician, this is your day. For National Pi Day is a celebration of mathematics. And, more specifically…. it celebrates “Pi”.
So, what is Pi? Pi is a constant is used to calculate the circumference of a circle from the circle’s radius or diameter. It is an irrational number, meaning it can be calculated to an infinitesimal number of decimal places. Computers have been used to calculate and have not found the end decimal place, meaning there isn’t one.
Today is the birthday physicist Albert Einstein. Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. The date is also represented as 3.14. We strongly suspect some combination of these two facts is why someone created the day on March 14th. However, “Pi” was around long before Albert Einstein was born.
A Little Pi Day Trivia: On Pi Day in 2004, Daniel Tammet recited 22,514 to digits.

When is Pecan Day? This holiday is always observed on March 25
Ask anyone and they will tell you that today is a rather nutty day. That’s because today is Pecan Day, a March 25 holiday. The trees are the only nut tree native to North America. They are most common in the southern U.S. This is a very good reason to celebrate this day. However, the purpose of today is to commemorate March 25, 1775, the day George Washington planted a pecan tree at his Mount Vernon estate.
The roots of pecans run very deep. Native Americans harvested them as a source of food for perhaps a thousand years before the arrival of European settlers. During colonial times, the trees became popular with early European settlers, who foraged through the woods to find pecans. By the early 1770s, the trees were being grown in Long Island, New York farms. Around that time, Thomas Jefferson was also growing them on his plantation at Monticello. He had brought them up from the southern United States. In 1775, Thomas Jefferson gifted a pecan tree to George Washington, who planted it on his estate at Mount Vernon. From North America, pecan trees grew in popularity around the world. Today, these trees can be found growing on every continent except Antarctica.
If you don’t get enough of this popular nut today, don’t worry. Next month is National Pecan Day.
A Little Pecan Trivia
Pecans belong to the hickory family.
There are over 1,000 varieties of pecans.
Pecans aren’t technically nuts. From a technical standing they are, a fruit!
Mature trees produce nuts every other year.
Mature plants produce nuts for 50-60 years.
The trees live up to 300 years and grow up to 150 feet tall.
90% of the worldwide production comes from the United States.

Peach Blossom Day is Today. This March 3 holiday celebrates peach blossoms. It is also for girls to celebrate being girls. Does that sound a little strange or confusing? The connection is at the heart of the objective of this holiday. Read on………
Peach trees produce pretty, scented blooms in early spring. They are the promise of a sweet crop in mid to late summer. The attributes of peach blossoms include: pretty, delicate, dainty, and sweet smelling. These are all feminine traits.
