When is World Card Making Day?

About World Card Making Day

When is World Card Making Day? This holiday is the first Saturday in October

World Card Making Day is a special October day. You do not have to be a kid to participate in this holiday. Rather, people of all ages can enjoy this holiday. It encourages everyone in the whole wide world, to make a homemade greeting card. Certainly, the card companies won’t like that! Besides, a homemade greeting card is far less expensive than a store bought one.

How many people are on your list? Make a greeting card for each of them. Then, mail them or give them out in person… that’s more fun. You can make a card for literally every occasion. There are plenty of Ecard greeting card sites where you can prepare and send a card, too. But, nothing says “I care” more than a handmade card that you make right at home.

Homemade greeting cards are usually made of construction paper. Also, you can make a card from a greeting card software package right on your computer. Use your own words to get a message across to the recipient. Decorate it with pictures and images. Finally, print it out using construction paper or cardstock.  I bet you will find making cards so much fun, that you will create more than one card.

When you make a homemade card today, don’t feel bad for the big card companies. They make plenty of money off the cards you send the other 364 days of the year.

How to Celebrate World Card Making Day

  • Pull out the cardboard paper, pens, and crayons. Now, make a homemade greeting card.
  • If you are time-constrained today, it is okay to send an Ecard.

When is White Cane Safety Day? October 15 holidays.

About White Cane Safety Day

When is White Cane Safety Day? This holiday is always observed on October 15

White Cane Safety Day, an October 15 holiday, celebrates and recognizes the achievements of the blind and visually impaired, and their independence. That independence is represented by the white cane that they use to travel from place to place. This day is not about helping them across the street. Rather, it is about helping blind people to live and function independently.

The white cane is an invaluable tool for the blind. It affords blind people freedom of movement they otherwise may not have. Accordingly, the white cane is a well-recognized symbol of independence.

Of course, if you know someone who is blind or visually impaired, celebrate this day with him or her. Also, we suggest you let them take you for a walk.

How to Celebrate White Cane Safety Day

This holiday is all about assisting blind people and vision-impaired people and assuring their safety.

  • First, assist the blind and visually impaired in their efforts to be independent in their daily lives.
  • Then, join and support organizations that work with the blind and visually impaired.

Virus Appreciation Day

When is Virus Appreciation Day? October 3 holidays.

About Virus Appreciation Day

When is Virus Appreciation Day? This holiday is always observed on October 3

Virus Appreciation Day is today, an October 3 holiday.  It allows us to show a little respect for nasty viruses. Only a few years ago, we wouldn’t have given viruses or this holiday much thought.  With the arrival of COVID, Monkeypox, and a resurgence of polio, we all are giving viruses a whole lot more attention, if not respect. As for appreciation, let’s show our appreciation for the progress that the medical and scientific world is making for both prevention and treatment. As those communities work towards eradicating these diseases, let’s practice personal protection methods as we deem appropriate fo ourselves and our families.

Unfortunately, the creators of this day did not identify themselves. Nor, did they leave a record of what kind of viruses we are supposed to appreciate on this day. Human, animal, and computer viruses readily come to mind. We sure can appreciate the seriousness and significance of both human and computer viruses.

So, let’s dedicate today to appreciating that viruses can be very serious, if not deadly. If Covid has taught us anything it’s that viruses can be persistent and evolving. So, let’s take measures to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and even our computers. to minimize the risk of serious viruses.

Perhaps Virus Appreciation Day would be better if titled Virus Awareness and Protection Day. That would make much more sense. When we find the creators of this special day, we will recommend the name change to them.

How to Celebrate Virus Appreciation Day

Here are some ways for you to participate in and enjoy this important holiday:

  • Use personal protection equipment (PPE) as you feel appropriate. It is truly a personal decision as to what steps to take.
  • Support efforts to find cures and vaccines that work against all viruses.
  • Are you up to date on your vaccines? If you are not sure, then check it out.
  • In regards to computer viruses, install a virus protection program.
  • Never forget the many impacts the Covid Coronavirus has had on our lives and upon the world.

Today's Quote

“Life on Earth is at the ever-increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster, such as sudden global nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or other dangers we have not yet thought of.” – – Stephen Hawking

National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day

Earth Animation. How to Create Holidays

When is Take Your Parents to Lunch Day? This holiday is always celebrated on the second Wednesday in October

Today is National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day. As a parent with three kids, I think this could become one of my favorite holidays!

Got kids!? Then, you get to let them “take you to lunch” today. And, you’re gonna love it. Go to your child’s school and join them for lunch in the school cafeteria. Sounds yummy, doesn’t it!? But, actually, that’s the point. You get to see the hopefully healthy lunch they are getting at school, check out the environment in the cafeteria, and perhaps engage with the cafeteria staff about the quality of the foods your child eats each day. You will have to check with the school administrators, to see if they participate in this increasingly popular program. We also suggest you discuss this with your kids first. This day may only work with lower grade levels. Even then, some kids may be embarrassed to have mom and dad show up in the lunch room.

We are gonna partially hijack this special day with the following suggestion for grown-up children:  Take mom and dad to lunch at their favorite restaurant, or a special restaurant you went to together as a family. As to who pays, we will leave that up to you and your parents!

How to Celebrate National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day

  • Let adult kids take their parents out to lunch.
  • If schools participate, parents can go to their kid’s school to have lunch with them.
  • Kids can take their parents outdoors to lunch. Weather permitting, of course.
  • Take your parents out to lunch at a park.

History and Origin of National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day

This fun family holiday appears to be relatively new. It was created around 2015. Our research has not yet uncovered who created this special day. However, it is clear that the reason for this holiday is to have a little family fun.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a true “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation. This was not surprising as this is a newer holiday and there is very little written about it.

When is Smart is Cool Day? This holiday is always observed on October 22

Are you a highly intelligent human being? You know you’re head and above, “smarter than the average bear”. And, you’ve got a high IQ to prove it. Yet despite all your smarts, you just can’t figure out why everyone thinks you’re so “un-cool”. Why can’t you be smart and cool at the same time? Well, you can. And, today is your day to be cool, if only for a day. Today is Smart is Cool Day, an October 22 holiday. Now you can celebrate the smarts God gave you, and appreciate all of the benefits of being highly intelligent. Certainly, being smart is a really cool thing, even if no one else knows it or appreciates it.

I don’t know why, but to many people, being highly intelligent is not considered cool. Nowhere is this more evident than in High School. Brainiacs certainly take more than their share of teasing and grief. They are stereotyped, often viewed as nerds, geeks, stuffy, having their noses up in the air, and occasionally being a snob. People think of smart people as the “Absent Minded Professor” or “Nutty Professor” type. Highly intelligent people are often observed with their minds in a cloud, completely absorbed in their thinking, and unaware of others and things going on around them.

Spend today enjoying how intelligent AND how cool you are. Sounds like a fun day to me!

Is your IQ 228? If so, you are in some highly intelligent company. American columnist Marilyn vos Savant is the smartest person in the world with an IQ of 228.

How to Celebrate Smart is Cool Day

  • Show your pride in your high IQ.
  • Take an IQ test.
  • Play games that challenge your mind.

This music genre arrived in the mid to late 1970s. It began as a form of garage band music and rejected common 1970s rock music. A whole punk culture emerged, including a style of clothes and most notably pink hair. While not very popular today, the music still exists.

Today's Quote

“Halloween simply has a special feel about it. School is back, everyone is settled into their routines following summer, and there is pumpkin spice everywhere.” – – Natalya Neidhart

History and Origin of Pumpkin Cheesecake Day

This holiday was created in 2011. The creator is not known. However, Patti Jewel’s Cheesecake Committee adopted this holiday and promotes it along with 13 other cheesecake days. According to their website, “Cheesecake Days are global celebrations for the love of Cheesecake”.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation. And, that’s because the creator of this holiday did not intend this to be a “National” day.

On their “Official Cheesecake Days Website”, none of their 14 cheesecake holidays are called a “National” day. In the past few years, several internet websites have begun to incorrectly call it National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day.

Definition of “National” Days – and why it is so important to distinguish true National days.
