Description: Ginger is a very popular flavor. And, Gingerbread is popular during the holidays. It is also too good not to have other times of the year. Here is a homemade gingerbread recipe that is certain to please. You can make it any time of the year.

Gingerbread Ingredients
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup boiling water
How to Make Gingerbread Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Beat shortening and sugar until creamy.
Add egg and molasses and beat well.
In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients thoroughly.
Alternately add molasses and boiling water to the dry mixture. Beat after each addition.
Pour batter into a greased 8″ X 8″ baking pan.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
Serve warm.
