About Ugly Truck Day

When is Ugly Truck Day? This holiday is always observed July 20

Beyond a doubt, Ugly Truck Day is a “guy thing”. Every guy can appreciate the importance of this July 20 holiday. Not to be left out, a fair number of the ladies appreciate (their) ugly truck, too! Ugly trucks are loved and cherished by their owners. And, as for being “Ugly”, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Sure, a brand new, shiny truck with all of the gadgets and features still working, is a great thing. But, an old, ugly truck is something to cherish with pride. It has a character that a new truck sorely lacks. It has a long history of well-earned dents, bangs, and scratches, each with its own tale of how it was proudly earned. Most guys can tell you exactly how and where every dent and scratch occurred, making your ugly truck a walking history book.

History and Origin of Ugly Truck Day

Our extensive surfing and driving around the net failed to identify the source of this day. It was no surprise to us. The history of ugly trucks in not written in a book. It’s not documented in an encyclopedia. And, it’s not chronicled on the Internet. It’s most likely written or etched on the hood, side panels, or bed of an ugly truck!

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

Definition of “National” Days – and why it so important to distinguish and identify true national days.
