When is Go Fishing Day? This holiday is always observed on June 18
We heard the fish are biting. Grab your tackle and gear. Today is Go Fishing Day. Now, this June 18 holiday is my kind of day! It’s a day to go out and bring home a healthy, tasty, meal for the family. It’s hard work sitting in a boat all day under a hot sun just waiting to get a nibble so you can set the hook. But, we’re doing it to feed the family. So, no sacrifice is too great.
Who said fishing is a fun and relaxing sport? Fishing is hard work. The pressure to bring home a “mess of fish” to feed the family is almost unbearable. After all, as the “Hunter-gatherer” of the family, you need to bring home the meal or the family might starve. My wife doesn’t appreciate the difficult task of fishing for long hours under all sorts of weather conditions. The wife thinks we’re just out having fun. Yeah, right, pass me another beer.
How to Celebrate Go Fishing Day
Celebrate today, on the shore or in a boat, with a fishing pole in one hand, and your favorite beverage in the other. And, don’t go home until you have caught your limit of fish!
Thoughts for Today
Jellyfish have survived for over 650 million years without a brain. This gives some people hope.
Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and he’s “Gone Fishing” for a lifetime.
History and Origin of Go Fishing Day
Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. We were hot on the trail of the creator and we discovered his address. We traveled to his home. Then, we came up to his door to ask about his creation of this day and saw a sign on the door. It reads “Sorry, I’m not home. I’ve gone Fishing!”
