International Sushi Day
Date When Celebrated : This holiday is always observed on June 18
Something's fishy. That's because today is International Sushi Day.
Sushi was created in Japan. It is a well known type of Japanese cuisine, but often misunderstood. Most of us think of sushi as a finger food containing raw fish. It certainly is a finger food. But, sushi does not have to include fish.
This relatively new special day is titled an "International" day. We found very little reference to this day outside of the U.S.
There is only one requirement for this day. Simply eat some sushi.
We hope you enjoy it!
The History and Origin of International Sushi Day:
International Sushi Day is a relatively new event. It was first proclaimed on Facebook, on June 18, 2009. Thanks to the wonders of social media, it quickly took off. At least it became popular among sushi lovers.
The creator of this special day is unknown.
