National Tequila Day

Mexican Man, National Margarita Day

About National Tequila Day

When is National Tequila Day? This holiday is always celebrated on July 24

National Tequila Day is today, a July 24 holiday. This drink is strong and potent. You can’t drink too many before you really feel its effects. It is made from the distilled sap of the succulent Blue Agave plant. Importantly, not just any agave plant will do. It must be specifically from the Blue Agave plant. As you enjoy a margarita, or a shot or two of tequila today, review our Tequila trivia (below). And, take a moment to be thankful for the blue agave plant.

Agave plants can be grown in any hot, arid area. By Mexican law, Tequila can only be made from the Blue Agave plant grown specifically in and around Tequila, Mexico, and a few select areas nearby. To meet the demand for this liquor, over 300 million plants are harvested a year!

The word “Tequila” has its roots in the Arabic word “Thaquila”, which means heavy and strong.

One Tequila, two Tequila, three Tequila, floor. Lift your Margarita or shot glass in celebration of National Tequila Day!

Thought for the Day: Take life with a grain of salt, plus a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila.

Remember to drink responsibly.
