Our research has not revealed who declared this a special holiday, or when it was first celebrated.

We are mildly surprised to find this special day celebrated in July, as apples will not begin to ripen until Fall months.

Neither the U.S. Congress nor the President of the United States has proclaimed today National Apple Turnover Day. Although, we do recognize that eating them is as patriotic as baseball, hot dogs and apple turnovers!
