When is World Bartender Day? This holiday is always observed on February 24
Cheers to the bartenders of the world today, for it is World Bartender Day, a February 24 holiday. Today is a day to celebrate the bartending craft, and to give recognition and appreciation to the men and women behind the counters at bars, pubs, breweries, and wineries that we frequent.
Tending bar is among the world’s oldest professions and a very important one at that. You trust your local barkeep to fix your drink to your liking, and in a timely manner. In addition to perfectly preparing and serving drinks, a bartender is often a part-time psychologist of sorts. Bartenders are excellent listeners. Many a patron has unloaded their problems or sought advice, while cozied up to the bar with a drink in hand. Patrons have confessed things they wouldn’t tell their spouse, closet friend, doctor, and even perhaps their church priest.
There are all types of bartenders. A bartender can be a professional or non-professional. Tending bar is a skill position. The real professionals attend Bartender’s school for formal education. They know by heart, how to mix hundreds of drinks. You may have been a casual type of bartender without even knowing it. If you’ve ever mixed and served drinks behind a counter at a church or club function, at small parties, or even in your own home, you’ve been a bartender.
Famous Bartenders: Perhaps the most memorable bartenders were Sam (Ted Danson) and the lovable “Coach” (Nicholas Colasanto) on the television sitcom “Cheers”.
Ways to Celebrate World Bartender Day
Go out to a bar or club for a drink and chat with the bartender.
Tell a bartender your troubles and woes.
Tell your bartender what a great job he or she does.
When you leave the bar, leave an extra-large tip in appreciation.
Give them a gift card.
Become a bartender yourself.

About White T-Shirt Day
When is White T-Shirt Day? This holiday is always celebrated on February 11
White Shirt Day, also called White T-Shirt Day, is a February 11 holiday. This holiday commemorates the men and women who participated in a sit-down strike at General Motors in 1937. These autoworkers helped the United Auto Workers (UAW) union to become the sole bargaining agent for General Motors autoworkers. The strike ended on this day in 1937.
According to the UAW’s website, the traditions of White Shirt Day are simple:
Everyone must wear a white shirt or blouse
Your white shirt must not get dirtier than your boss’s shirt
Follow all safety and work rules.
Somewhere along the way, this day evolved into White T-Shirt Day. Except for UAW workers and their families, this UAW event was probably lost or forgotten. Those who chanced across a reference to White Shirt Day, most likely created their version of this day, giving birth to the term White T-Shirt Day.
Please wear a white shirt today. And, honor UAW workers, along with their accomplishments.
Important Note: It’s “White T-Shirt Day”, not “Wet T-Shirt Day”. However, if the shirt is white, you can get it wet today. Or, you can enjoy watching someone in a wet T-Shirt.
Did You Know? T-shirts became popular in the 195-s when Marlon Brando and James Dean began wearing them in movies such as A Streetcar Named Desire.

About National Weatherman Day
When is National Weatherman Day? This holiday is always celebrated on February 5
National Weatherman’s Day honors weathermen and weatherwomen who work hard to accurately predict the often fickle local and national weather. Despite major technological advances and supercomputers, forecasting the weather can still be a tricky and ever-changing business, especially when it comes to local variations.
We depend on an accurate weather forecast. Knowing the weather is important in so many ways. It affects how we dress, where we go, and even if we go. Space launches are made or delayed depending on the weather. And, knowing the weather can save lives. The most obvious example is knowing when and where a hurricane, tornado, or major blizzard may hit.
According to the Air Force News, Weatherman’s Day “commemorates the birth of John Jeffries, one of America’s first weathermen”. Jeffries was born on Feb 5, 1744. He kept weather records from 1774 to 1816.
If you see a weatherman today, give them your appreciation for a job well done.
How to Celebrate National Weatherman Day
Most weathermen and weatherwomen are on social media. Send them a tweet or a Facebook post expressing your appreciation.
If you see a weatherman today, offer them your sincere thanks for a job well-done.
Watch the weather forecast for your area.
Today's Quote
“A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain.” – – Robert Frost
History and Origin of National Weatherman Day
While we know why this day was created, we do not know who initiated it or when.
We found no documentation in congressional records to confirm that this is truly a national day. Nor, did we find a presidential proclamation. Weathermen are pretty important people in our lives. Therefore, we feel this should be a national day. We hope congress turns to this important issue and votes it official soon.

When is Walking the Dog Day? This holiday is always celebrated on February 22
Walking the Dog Day is today, a February 22 holiday. It is a special day that your dog looks forward to all year long. But, wait a minute! Don’t you already walk your dog just about every day, and maybe 3 to 4 times a day? Sure you do! And, weather permitting, it’s enjoyable for you and your dog. They love it almost as much as a car ride.
Man’s Best Friend sleeps on your couch all day as he anxiously awaits your return so he can cake you for a stroll, and maybe case a few squirrels. On this day walking with your dog is a must. If you don’t have a dog, perhaps you can join a friend while he or she walks their dog.
The fundamental question is who walks who? Owners of large dogs know the answer. Even a somewhat small dog will drag you down the sidewalk at a high rate of speed.

About Create a Vacuum Day
When is Create a Vacuum Day? This holiday is always celebrated on February 4
Create a Vacuum Day is today, a February 4 holiday. This day just might leave you in an empty void. Certainly, the unknown author of this important day, left us in a vacuum when he failed to document this holiday. It appears clear from the title, that this day celebrates something devoid of air, like outer space or a vacuum tube. However, let’s stretch it just a little and suggest it may (also) be about the common vacuum cleaner that is used to clean our homes and places of work. That way we can have more fun by celebrating both! We found no factual information or records about the origin of this day. The author left us in a vacuum.
Theories About the Meaning of This Day
Short of knowing the thinking of the unknown author of this day, we present three possible theories:
Theory #1: A hard-working housewife, frustrated over her vacuuming chores, declared a day to commemorate the chore of vacuuming and to declare a day off from this task. The hole in this theory is that the day would likely be simply called “Vacuum Day” or “No Vacuuming Day”. Why include the word “Create” in the title? This led us to……..
Theory #2: A mad scientist (aren’t they all mad!?) created this day to celebrate the creation of a vacuum during laboratory work. But, isn’t this routine scientific work!? We think so. Therefore, it led us to…………..
Theory#3: Someone desperately in need of a simpler life, conceived this day. They wanted to create a vacuum that would suck all of the daily work, chores, and clutter out of their life. If only for one day, this holiday frees us to enjoy the simple life of leisure. Now, here’s a theory that makes sense for today!
However you choose to commemorate this day, we hope it’s a good one!
Ways to Celebrate Create a Vacuum Day
Use or don’t use a vacuum cleaner today. It’s your call.
Buy a new vacuum cleaner.

Today's Quote
“Well done is better than well said.” – – Benjamin Franklin
History and Origin of Create a Vacuum Day
Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. We can offer two theories about what happened to the original documentation of this day:
1. As the originators were creating a vacuum in their laboratory, the records were caught up in the void.
2. The originators were vacuuming their homes, and the papers were sucked up along with the dust bunnies.

National Tooth Fairy Day
About National Tooth Fairy Day
When is National Tooth Fairy Day? This holiday is observed on February 28th and/or August 22
National Tooth Fairy Day celebrates one of childhood’s favorite visitors. The Tooth Fairy is an American tradition with several European and superstitious roots. There are two National Tooth Fairy Days. There is ongoing debate whether this is a February 28 holiday, or if it is to be celebrated on August 22. I know! Let’s celebrate it on both dates.
Losing baby teeth is a sometimes-traumatic experience for young children. Enter the world of the friendly, smiling, and soothing Tooth Fairy. As a young child’s first baby tooth becomes loose, the child often fears losing it. The promise of a visit from the tooth fairy and a gift, turns the occasion into something to look forward to. When the tooth finally falls out, mom cleans it off. It is often put into a “tooth box”. At bedtime, the child puts the tooth under his or her pillow. The tooth fairy comes after the child falls asleep. She takes the tooth and leaves a small gift, usually money. The tooth fairy leaves a gift every time the child loses a tooth.
Never fear: If the tooth is literally lost in some way, don’t worry. The Tooth Fairy always knows, and will still leave a gift. She magically knows each time a baby tooth falls out, and will arrive that night, even if the child is away at grandma, or on vacation.
How much does the Tooth Fairy Give? The tooth fairy gives from $1.00 to $5.00 per tooth.
Male or female? There is an ongoing debate about whether the Tooth Fairy is a male or a female. But it’s pretty obvious. “She” is most definitely a female.
Did You Know? The Tooth fairy delivers over 700 million dollars a year to children in the U.S., in exchange for a child’s baby teeth.
How to Celebrate National Tooth Fairy Day
Read a book about fairies to your young child.
Donate a book about fairies to a less fortunate child.
Kids, don’t forget to put your tooth under your pillow for the tooth fairy!
Promote dental health for you and your family.
Thought for Today
When I was a young kid I wanted to be older….. This wasn’t what I had in mind.
History and Origin of National Tooth Fairy Day
Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. The tooth fairy dates back hundreds of years, probably to at least medieval times. We were amazed that the tooth fairy was not found in the encyclopedia.
Is National Tooth Fairy Day on February 28th, or August 22? Documentation on websites is fairly evenly divided, with slightly more recording it on February 28th. Some very reputable and authoritative sites differ on the date. Until we find further documentation or the creator of this day, feel free to celebrate it on either date….or both!
This is not a true “National” day. There is no evidence to suggest that this is truly a “National” day, which requires an act of congress. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation about this special day.
