It's the middle summer, the dog days of summer. The sun is relentlessly beating down, making it hot, stifling hot. Fortunately, National Waterpark Day has arrived just in time to cool you off, and provide a fun-filled day of cool enjoyment.

Waterparks are big business. Right now, Americans all over the country are flocking to waterparks to cool off. There's indoor waterparks and outdoor waterparks. They are all guaranteed to be busy right now. But, the outdoor waterparks will be the busiest of all at this time of year. Outdoors is where we want to be, while at the same time getting a respite from the oppressive heat and humidity. Whether you select a smaller town waterpark, or a nationally known commercial park, fun aplenty awaits you. They're much more fun than a dip in the pool. There's something for every age group. Enjoy a leisurely raft ride down a lazy river. Speed down the twisting turns of a water slide, the higher the better. Body surf in a wave pool. Or, chill in the splash pools.

This special summer holiday was created in July, 2017 by Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, a waterpark company. It was obviously created to promote the attendance and enjoyment of waterparks....their waterparks in particular. We are so happy they did. Setting the date of this special day, right in the middle of the hottest period of summer, is perfect placement.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a true "National" day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.
