Gingerbread Recipe

Gingerbread is popular during the holidays. It is also too good not to have other times of the year. Here is a homemade recipe certainly to please.

Yield: 6 to 9 servings

Gingerbread Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup brown sugar

• 1/2 cup shortening

• 1 egg

• 1/2 cup molasses

• 1 1/2 cups flour

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 3/4 teaspoons baking soda

• 1/2 teaspoon ginger

• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

• 1/2 cup boiling water

How to make Gingerbread:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Beat shortening and sugar until creamy.

3. Add egg and molasses, beat well.

4. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients thoroughly.

5. Alternately add molasses and boiling water into the dry mixture. Beat after each addition.

6. Pour batter into a greased 8" X 8" baking pan.

7. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.

8. Serve warm.
