This holiday and party snack is one that kids and adults will chow down on. It is guaranteed to be a hit. To appear realistic, it must be served in a real dog dish. But please, use a brand new, never used (by a dog) dog dish. Make this puppy chow recipe for parties and holidays. It looks great on the Halloween snack tray.

Puppy Chow Ingredients

12 ounces of any flavor of Chex cereal or Crispix

1/2 cup butter, margarine, or oleo.

1 cup crunchy peanut butter

12-ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 – 3 cups powdered sugar

How to Make Puppy Chow Directions

  1. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips.

  2. Microwave on high for one minute. Stir mixture.

  3. Heat for an additional minute and stir again.

  4. Reheat and stir a little more until the mixture is smooth.

  5. Pour the cereal into a large bowl.

  6. Pour the mixture over the cereal.

  7. Stir gently until the cereal is well-coated.

  8. Pour the powdered sugar into a large bag. (paper works better than plastic)

  9. Pour the coated cereal into the powdered sugar.

  10. Shake well until cereal is well coated with powdered sugar.

  11. Lay out wax paper on a counter or table.

  12. Spread the puppy chow onto the waxed paper and allow it to cool and dry.

  13. Store in a covered container or food storage bag until ready to use.

  14. Serve in a brand-new dog dish.
