The correct name, the correct spelling… The proper Hungarian spelling(translated in English) is Dumplings Nokedli. It is also commonly called noodles nokedli. That’s what our family sometimes called it even though it is definitely not a noodle.  It is important to note that “nokedeli” is an incorrect spelling.

Hungarian Dumplings Nokedli Ingredients

2 eggs, beaten

1/2 cup cold water

2 1/2 cups flour

2 teaspoons salt

How to Make Hungarian Dumplings Nokedli Directions

  1. Start a big pot filled with water and salt.

  2. While the water is heating, put all ingredients into a mixing bowl.

  3. Mix into a stiff batter. You may need to adjust the amount of flour, up or down a little.

  4. Once the water has begun to boil, drop a teaspoonful of dough into the boiling water. Some people like bigger dumplings and use a Tablespoon.

  5. Cook for 10 minutes.

  6. Remove dumplings and rinse in cold water.

  7. Just before serving, re-heat in hot water or the microwave.
