Festive Coffee Ring Recipe Description

This coffee ring not only looks good, it tastes great, too. Place it as a centerpiece on the dessert table, or by itself. Use this festive coffee ring recipe for the December holidays, or any holiday all year long.

Coffee Ring Ingredients

1/2 cup warm, not hot water(110-115 degrees)

1 package active dry yeast

1 egg

1 Tablespoon sugar

2 1/2 cups Bisquick

2 tablespoons soft butter or margarine

2 tablespoons brown sugar1/3 cup chopped candied fruits

1/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Confectioner’s sugar

milk

How to Make Coffee Ring Directions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.

  2. Add egg, sugar, and Bisquick.

  3. Beat vigorously. Turn onto a cutting board dusted with Bisquick.

  4. Knead until smooth.

  5. Roll dough into a 16×9 inch rectangle.

  6. Spread butter or margarine on top. Sprinkle on brown sugar, candied fruit, and chopped walnuts.

  7. Roll up, beginning at the wide side. Pinch dough together to seal.

  8. Place the sealed side down on a greased baking sheet. Pinch ends together to form a ring.

  9. With bakery scissors, cut 2/3 through at 1-inch intervals. Turn each section outward on its side.

  10. Cover and let rise to about double in size.

  11. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

  12. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes.

  13. Test with a toothpick for doneness.

  14. Make an icing with confectioner’s sugar and a little milk.

  15. Dribble icing over the coffee ring.

  16. Decorate with candied cherries and walnut halves.
