When is Poultry Day? This holiday is always celebrated on March 19
Poultry Day celebrates chicken, turkey, and other birds we commonly consume. Chicken, turkey, and many other fowl are lower in fats, and cholesterol than other meats. So, eating them is better for your health. They also give you your breakfast eggs.
One way to celebrate Poultry Day is to eat eggs for breakfast, a chicken sandwich for lunch, and barbecue chicken for dinner. Don’t forget to cook up some chicken fingers for the kids.
On November 17, 1989, then-President George H.W. Bush gave a presidential pardon to a turkey. It immediately became an annual tradition. Start your own annual tradition by giving all poultry a one-day reprieve on Poultry Day.

History and Origin of Poultry Day
Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this day. The most likely candidate for Poultry Day creator is the poultry industry. We see no reason for the creator to be chicken about taking credit for this day, or to duck the responsibility to document it.
This holiday originally was called Poultry Day. Somewhere around 2018, a few websites began to incorrectly call it National Poultry Day. The creator did not make this change. We found no documentation in congressional records to confirm that this is truly a national day. Nor, did we find a presidential proclamation.
