As a result, Merlot grapes are the most popular grape in French vineyards, comprising over 60% of the vines in all of the vineyards in the country.

Despite our extensive research efforts, we have not yet found the creator or the origin of this day. We have no doubt it was created by a wine lover. Perhaps, he or she drank just a little too much Merlot the first time this day was celebrated and did not remember to document it the next morning.
We traced this holiday back to at least 2011.
