When is Random Acts of Kindness Day? This holiday is always celebrated on February 17
You can, and should, make this a very special day for someone other than yourself. Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day. And, you know what to do…perform a few unplanned, random acts of kindness. On the February 17 holiday, almost any kind of good deed will do. It does not need to be a huge endeavor. Rather, it can be something small and seemingly trivial. We highly recommend you perform kind acts on as many people as you can.
A random act is like throwing a pair of dice. You don’t know in advance what the outcome will be. To perform random acts of kindness today, don’t schedule or plan what you are going to do. Rather, keep alert for unexpected opportunities to be nice or help someone in need. This is a favorite day of many people and groups. People like the idea of showing a little kindness to others. It’s a fun and good thing to do. And, they like being on the receiving end of this day as well. It makes both the giver and the receiver feel good.
Schools have used this day as an educational event, and to promote the value of kindness. Organizations often use this day to promote their cause and for fundraisers.

How to Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day
Kindness is contagious. There are countless ways you can be kind to others. Here are some ideas to get you started during this holiday:
- Be a good Boy Scout and help someone across the street.
- Open a door for someone. This is a somewhat lost act of kindness. While this is often seen as a gentlemanly act, ladies can certainly do this, too.
- Say nice, complimentary things to people.
- Spend some time with the elderly or people who are shut-in. Then, watch them smile.
- Go out of your way to help someone.
- Be hospitable.
- Send a greeting card to someone who is depressed and in need of cheering up.
- Forgive others for their errors and shortcomings.
- Prepare and deliver a meal or baked goods to someone…anyone.
- Help a neighbor or friend with a chore or task.
- Take a minute out of your busy day, and speak to someone who is lonely.
