Molasses Sugar Cookies Ingredients

3/4 cups shortening

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup Brer Rabbit molasses

1 egg

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon ground clove

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

How to Make Molasses Sugar Cookies Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.

  2. Melt shortening in a 4-quart saucepan over low heat. Let cool.

  3. Add sugar, molasses, and egg. Beat well.

  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, ground cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Add to the first mixture.

  5. Mix together well, then chill.

  6. Remove from refrigerator, and form into 1-inch diameter balls.

  7. Rolls balls in granulated sugar, and place on greased cookie sheet, placed 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes.
