Marshmallow Applesauce Cake Ingredients
2 3/4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
20 large marshmallows
Directions How to Make Marshmallow Applesauce Cake
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Sift dry ingredients together. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together shortening, eggs, and applesauce.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
Beat until smooth and well blended.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 13″ X 9″ cake pan.
Press whole marshmallows into the batter and to the bottom of the pan. The 20 marshmallows are placed in four rows of five each.
During baking, the marshmallows will melt and rise to the top, making a frosting.
