Nowadays, most people make cornbread from a box. This is a homemade cornbread recipe that you can make almost as quickly from scratch. And it tastes so much better than one made from a box.

Homemade Cornbread Ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk, whole or 2%
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup vegetable oil
How to Make Homemade Cornbread
Preheat oven to 400° F.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
In a second bowl, combine milk, egg, and vegetable oil. Stir together.
Add the liquid mix to the dry ingredients. Stir together just enough to mix.
Pour batter into a greased 8″ X 8″ baking pan.
Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until the top is slightly browned.
Serve warm or cool.
