About Be Late for Something Day

Date When Celebrated: Be Late for Something Day is always observed on September 5

Be Late For Something Day is a great day to be a procrastinator. If you are among the millions of us who never seem to be able to stay on schedule, then you will certainly enjoy today.

Being late for something is a common occurrence. It’s caused by a whole host of reasons. Some are intentional, some are not. Fall behind schedule early in the day today, and you will be late for everything that follows. Doctors and lawyers are notoriously late for something….their appointment with you! It’s proper to be “fashionably late” for parties.

Important Note: We hope you thoroughly enjoy and participate in this day. But, whatever you do, don’t be late for dinner!

Things to Do on This Day

It is easy and natural to enjoy this special day. All you have to do is be late for something. That’s easy for procrastinators.  And, perhaps it’s easy for you.

Here are some ideas and suggestions how to fully participate on this day:

  • Turn your alarm clock off when it rings and snooze a little longer.
  • Set your watch to be 10-15 minutes earlier than it really is.
  • Be fashionably late.
  • Leave your watch home.
  • Do not look at clocks today.
  • When you leave the house, leave something you need for the day at home. Then, you will have to go back and get it.
