Stuffed Mushroom Day is a special day that you can really sink your teeth into. If you like mushrooms, then you are certain to love them stuffed. Mushroom caps make the perfect bite-sized holders. Match them with your favorite stuffing, and you have a culinary treat.

People have been eating mushrooms for perhaps thousands of years. But, they were also shunned by many, as a lot of mushrooms are poisonous. It wasn't until the 19th century that they became popular.

Stuffed mushroom recipes go back to the 19th century. It is believed to have evolved from Italian stuffed zucchini flowers. Fortunately for us, there is a wide range of stuffed mushroom recipes, from simple  bread stufffings, to lobster, crab, cheeses and much, much more.

Did You Know? There are over 14,000 species of mushrooms. It is important to note, that many are poisonous. So, don't go out into the forest to pick them yourself.
