What’s in a name? Apparently, a whole lot, when we’re talking about yours. Get a Different Name Day, a February 13 holiday, is for those who are not fond of the formal name given to them. At birth, we are given a first, middle, and name. It wasn’t our choice. Neither was our original nickname. Rather, our parents bestowed it upon us so they could call us to dinner and scold us with our complete formal name, as needed. If you like your name, good for you. If not, then today is for you. Take advantage of today to change it.
Today is the perfect time to pick a name and/or nickname. A lot of people who don’t like their first name choose their middle name at some point. Or, we choose an entirely different name. As for nicknames, at some point, everyone needs to be happy with them or change them.
Nicknames are important, too. We often grow out of our childhood nicknames. They often offer us plenty of choices. For example, Robert can be called Bob, Rob, Bobby, or Robby. Then, there are the nicknames friends, family and co-workers bestow upon us. They can include names like Slim Jm, Speedy, Pumpkin, Butch, Junior, Fat Albert, Bones, Four-Fingered Louie, and Shorty. The list goes on and on and on. They may be nice and complimentary, or not so nice. Once you have been tagged with a nickname, you’re likely stuck with it.
.Ps If you change your name, don’t forget to update your stationery. And, you will need to notify family and friends about the change.
