Maya Calendar  -Does it Predict the end??

When: December 21, 2012

The Ancient Mayan Calendar ends on December 21, 2012. Some people believe that end of the calendar is when humanity will end. Mayan stone tablets unearthed in Mexico, offered doomsday predictions on this date.

Does it predict the end of humanity? First, read on. Then, we will let you make the call.

Make sure to read the findings of our extensive research, near the bottom of this page. (tee, hee)

Mayan Culture

Mayan (Meso American) culture dates back about 6000 years. The Mayans were the most advanced culture in the Americas. They lived in Central America. Guatemala was the cultural and commercial center of their empire.

Among other things, the Mayans were Astronomers.

Mayans considered the number 13 to be a sacred number.

About the Mayan Calendar

The Mayan Calender, begins at 3114BC. It ends on December 21, 2012.

The calender is partially built around the sacred number 13. They developed 394 year periods, called "Baktuns". They developed 13 of them. The last Baktun ends on December 21, 2012.

Doomsday theories tied to the end of the calendar were found on stone tablets at Tortuguero, Mexico. They suggest things like a solar shift, movement of the planet Venus, and violent earthquakes.

Our Findings:

In an effort to clarify the truth, we conducted extensive research. Our research took us to the heart of the Mayan cultural areas, as well as the most remote areas of the Mayans. We unearthed many stone tablets, previously undiscovered. We then, painstakingly translated the Ancient writings.

Here is what they said:

Year 3114BC:

Stone Tablet # EXC 4117: "Can we stop now? I need an Espresso."

Stone Tablet # FRS8711: " Do you really think this will fool the Gringos in the year 2012 into believing December 21st is the end?"

Stone Tablet #GPP2588: " We've gotta stop here. The Marlin are biting out in the Gulf of Mexico"

Stone Tablet# CRZY9521: " I'm tired of writing fiction. Can we write a true story soon?"

How to Celebrate "The End"

The country of Mexico is planning year long celebration, marking the end of the 13th Baktun. This is expected to be a boon to their travel industry.

Whether or not the world ends on December 21st, we encourage you to have an "End of the Mayan Calendar" party. Any excuse for a party, is good enough for me!
